How every practice on this site gets verified
Everything here traces back to a public record you can open yourself. This page explains exactly which one, how we process it, and where we stop.
The source
Every US healthcare provider who bills insurance has to register with the federal government and receive an NPI — a National Provider Identifier. Those registrations live in NPPES, a public-domain file published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. It is not scraped, not licensed, and not anyone’s proprietary database.
We query it for active records carrying a chiropractic taxonomy with a practice address in a covered ZIP code. Current revision: August 2026, built from the NPPES release of 13 July 2026.
Grouping providers into practices
A federal record is a provider or an organization, not a clinic. Turning thousands of those into a usable directory takes a resolution step:
- Street addresses are normalized — suite numbers stripped, spacing repaired — then bucketed with the five-digit ZIP.
- Each organization record at an address seeds a practice.
- Individual providers are matched to an organization by surname against the registered official and the business name.
- Unmatched providers at an address with exactly one organization are absorbed into it. Where the match is genuinely ambiguous, records stay separate rather than being merged on a guess.
That last rule matters. Two independent practices sharing a medical building are two entries here, not one. Most directories collapse them.
What we deliberately do not publish
- Hours and appointment availability — no public record holds them.
- Prices — set by each practice, not filed anywhere.
- Insurance networks — change constantly; only the office can tell you.
- Star ratings and review text — we link out to Google instead of averaging them here.
Leaving those blank is the point. A directory that invents them is guessing at your health decisions.
Featured placements
Each area page has two slots a practice can pay to occupy. They are labeled “Featured practice” wherever they appear. A placement never adds a listing, never removes one, never reorders the directory beneath it, and never changes a word inside a record. Pricing is handled directly with practices and is not published on the site.
Check it yourself
Every listing prints its NPI. Two free lookups confirm anything on this site: the federal NPI registry for the provider and address, and the Illinois IDFPR license lookup for state license status and disciplinary history.
Current coverage: 3447 practices and 2855 named providers. Records are rebuilt on every deploy against the live federal file.
Questions about how this directory works
Where does this data come from?
The CMS National Plan and Provider Enumeration System — a public-domain federal file that every US healthcare provider has to enroll in to bill insurance. We take the full-replacement release, filter it to active records with a chiropractic taxonomy, and keep the ones with a practice address inside a covered ZIP code.
Can a practice pay to be listed?
No. Whether a practice appears is decided entirely by the federal file. There are two clearly labeled featured slots per area that a practice can pay for, and a featured placement never adds a listing, removes a competitor, reorders the directory below it, or changes anything inside a record.
How current is this?
This revision is built from the NPPES release of 13 July 2026, and the directory rebuilds against each new NPPES release. Providers maintain their own federal records, so a recent move or closure can lag by a few weeks.
How do you decide which providers belong to the same practice?
Records are grouped by normalized street address plus ZIP, then individual providers are matched to the organization at that address by surname. Two different practices in the same building stay separate, which is the failure mode most directories get wrong.
Why are there no reviews or star ratings?
Because a star average is not a verifiable fact the way a license number is, and republishing one would put this site in the business of scoring practices — which is exactly what we are trying not to do. Every practice page links straight to its Google listing so you can read the reviews at the source, with the dates and the wording intact.
I found something wrong on my listing. How do I fix it?
The fastest fix is at the source: update your record in NPPES and it will flow through on the next rebuild. If something is wrong on our end specifically, use the form on the For practices page and we will correct it.
